The standard bathroom job in Colombo is a position change: the shower comes out where the builder put it, the tap sits too low for the basin, the supply line runs where it shouldn't. We re-route inflow, cut and seal the tile line, and pressure-test before the tiler's patch or ours closes it. Full shower upgrades happen, but they're the exception, not the week.
Bathtubs are almost non-existent in Sri Lankan homes — we fit them where asked, but we'll tell you the water reality first: a tub on tank pressure is a long, slow fill, and the drainage side needs its own fall. When the inflow you're moving is buried in tile and leaking, that's concealed-leak-repair territory — same trade, different page, and we quote it as such.

A slow bath or shower drain usually fails in the trap, not the pipe — hair and soap sit there for years, and the trap is minutes to clear.
What to Do Before We Arrive
- Close the isolation valves under the sink and behind the WC if water is running — the main stopcock is the fallback.
- Clear vanity and under-sink storage so we can reach the pipework without moving your things.
- Note when faults occur — only in the shower, only at mornings — timing points at the failing part.
- If a repair may need tile, keep offcuts or a spare tile handy — matching what is already down saves a second trip.
